Reminiscent of Alex Patterson's work with the Orb, Alien takes the listener on a percussive ride straight to the heart of modern British techno-psychedelia that holds up well under repeated listenings. With bubbling synthesizers, subliminal drum programs, and acrobatic rhythm discourses, Johnson shows off his fertile, futuristic imagination on this entertaining release. --Mitch Myers
